It’s been a whirlwind of a year for the young star of the Coen brothers’ version of True Grit. 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld was practically unknown before her debut role as the tough Mattie Ross in the blockbuster film. She beat out nearly 15,000 girls to win the pivotal role in the beloved western, and she went on to be nominated for numerous awards, including a coveted Oscar nomination for Actress in a Supporting Role.
All of her awards nominations have lead to plenty of red carpet appearances for the young star. Although she may not have much experience at these A-list events, she certainly has been dressing like a seasoned pro.
Hailee has been wearing top designers such as Prada, Prabal Gurung, Marc Jacobs, and Marchesa. It’s a difficult task at her age to look glamorous and still age appropriate, but she has been accomplishing this flawlessly. It’s not just what Hailee wears, but how she wears it. On the red carpet she exudes a youthful excitement and charm and wears a million dollar smile that truly makes her stand out in a good way.
For one of her first major red carpet appearances, Hailee stepped out in a silver sparkly Moschino dress with Christian Louboutin heels at the premiere of True Grit in New York City last December. The icy hue and the length of the dress was mature and sassy, but the lavender sash and her loose waves made her look totally age appropriate. Hailee also looked incredible at the 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards in January. She wore a Marchesa blush toned, asymmetrical mini dress with nude Jimmy Choo ankle boots. The neutral colors she wore were perfectly on-trend and her natural hair and makeup gave her a youthful glow.
Arguably her most famous, and controversial, look was at the 2011 SAG Awards where she wore Prada. This gown was from the infamous Spring 2011 Prada collection. Not many other actresses could have pulled this off. The loud colors and horizontal stripes are very busy and could have been a disaster for an older woman, yet Hailee looks flawless because it is totally age appropriate and fun. Most recently, she attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival to accept the Viruoso Award for her performance in True Grit. She wore an ivory cap-sleeved Alberta Ferretti dress with red suede Aldo pumps and a H&M textured clutch. The red accessories pop against the ivory dress, and she mixed an expensive dress with affordable accessories perfectly.
Hailee is certainly a rising style star and one to watch on the red carpet, especially at the upcoming Academy Awards. What do you think of Hailee’s style?
