Going solo went further than Gwen Stefani expected. The 41-year-old singer took a break from her ska band No Doubt in 2004 to start her solo album Love.Angel.Music.Baby and another album that followed soon after, The Sweet Escape. Both reached platinum.
When Entertainment Weekly recently asked Stefani about her future as a solo artist, she replied, “That was a moment in time. It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you’re at in that time in your life … [But] everything works out how it should.”
Stefani plans on returning to No Doubt, but first, they have to see where everyone is at—they have families now and other duties. She admitted that it would probably take some time to release a new album with No Doubt, but she will not release another solo album without her bandmates.
The band will announce future plans this Friday, June 10.
