Gwen Stefani

The sheer clothing trend has taken off this summer, showing up everywhere from the red carpets to the streets.  Many pull off the romantic look by layering a sheer blouse over a camisole to keep it conservative.  Recently however, many celebrities have been giving the trend an edgier look by letting their undergarments show.  Gwen Stefani, who is never afraid to take a fashion risk, is a perfect example of pushing the limits when it comes to sheer clothing.

Earlier this month, Gwen went to the Underwood Family Farm with her family.  She wore a super casual outfit to play with her boys in the sand.  She wore a lacy red bra under a loose white v-neck that nobody could miss.  The sheer A.L.C. top was paired with baggy, khaki pants and a cute fedora.  The outfit was perfect for getting down and dirty on the farm, but still created a buzz.

On another outing with her family, Gwen does sheer perfectly.  This time she wore a super sheer, black blouse over a black bra.  Even though the top is very see-through, the dark colors and the bow at the neck keep her looking classy.  She wore a navy blazer over the shirt and loose fitting blue jeans, another favorite trend of hers.

While out on the beach in Malibu, Gwen tries the sheer trend in a different way.  Her all black ensemble included a sheer maxi skirt by A.L.C.  Unfortunately, her choice of undergarments did not provide much coverage.  The choice was definitely bold, but it would have been better worn over bathing suit bottoms as a cover-up, or bloomers for an outfit away from the beach.

To pull off this look you have to be confident.  To ease into it, try pairing a black sheer top with a black bra so the contrast isn’t as great.  You can find this look at Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, and even Forever 21, for shoppers on a budget.
