Going green is not just for avid environmentalists and their suitability efforts to save the planet, but also has a special place in the hearts of avid fashionistas. Going green is one of the hottest trends to hit the runways and stores alike, after all emerald was declared the color of 2013.

You do not have to search high and low for this green trend, as mint greens, Kelly greens, lime greens, and of course, emerald greens are popping up everywhere. It is quite easy to incorporate the green trend into your wardrobe this spring. Here are a few of my favorite green pieces of the season, perfect for various occasions and those on a budget.

First is a fit and flare dress from Modcloth.com. This sleeveless, emerald green dress from Modcloth is ideal for curvy women because the empire waist of the dress and the black belt helps to accentuate the smallest part of the body, the waist. The fabric is also gathered around the center of the dress, which draws attention to the waist further slimming it. In addition, this dress is very versatile. It could be worn at a casual picnic gathering or paired with a blazer for a more formal, corporate look. Throw on a pair of black pumps for a day at work or gladiator sandals for a day out on the town.

Next, from Forever21, is neon green, over the shoulder bag. This square-shaped, structured bag is a playful accessory to complete any spring look. The purse is highlighted with gold features, like its gold chain and clasp, which is centered giving the purse a fun yet sophisticated feel. This bag is perfect for a day in the city because it is small enough to be manageable but large enough to fit your most crucial belongings. Also this bag could be paired with a form fitting, black dress to brighten up a nightlife look.

Last is a hot pair of strappy, emerald heels from Macy’s. These heels are open toed, feature a buckle on the side, and have intersecting straps from the toes to the ankle. The interweaving straps give the emerald heels a fancy, sexy vibe perfect for a night out. On the other hand these heels can be worn with a pair of jeans and a floral top for a more formal day look. As you can see, these heels can accompany a day or night outfit, adding the perfect touch.

Going green is not only an environmental trend but a trend recently seen from the globe’s runways to the streets. Going green and embracing the various green hues this spring is a must. Experiment with a neon bag or a pair of emerald strappy heels. Incorporating a little bit of green into this season’s wardrobe will go a long way!
