The Elusive Apple

The Elusive Apple

Remember when news of Fiona Apple’s next album first surfaced? And the subsequent doubt that emerged months later? Yeah, so do we.

Luckily for us, there’s actual cause for celebration this time around – L.A. Reid said so.

In a tweet, the chairman and CEO of Epic Records shared his enthusiasm for the label’s upcoming projects:

“Lot’s of good music coming from Epic Records in the next few weeks. Stay tuned music fans. Welcome back Fiona!”

Of course, given the singer’s history of drama-filled staggered album releases, a skeptical Time magazine reporter contacted Epic directly to determine the accuracy of Reid’s “announcement.”

Acknowledging that the tweet was “taken a bit out of context,” a spokeswoman for Epic confirmed that Apple’s fourth studio album is slated for release in 2012. “It’ll absolutely be this year, but timing-wise, I don’t know exactly when,” she said.

Fair enough, but do find out soon – we’d really appreciate it.
