This year has been the year of nails. With a plethora of new manicure techniques, like ombre and magnetic, getting your nails done has never been so fun. The year isn’t over, however, and neither are the possibilities. This fall end the year off right with these nail colors and collections to make 2013 beg for mercy.
Its pretty obvious that deep colors, like burgundy, midnight blue, and black are perfect way to bring warmth to the chilly air. But add some color to your palette by trying darker shades of colors you wore in the summer. If you liked lilac this summer, try eggplant for this upcoming season; if you liked mint green, try a militia inspired forest green. When wearing dark colors keep your nails short and square, as to keep the color from over powering your hands. Just like wine colored lips, rich dark nail polish is the perfect way to compliment your cold weather fashion.
White nail polish is good for the summer, but it’s going to look even better this fall. The white, or a close relative of white like cream or nude, contrasts sharply with the darker colors associated with fall. This polish will give your nails a refreshing burst of color and will allow to you hold on to those summer memories.
Maybe it’s because of the colors the leaves turn in the fall, but there’s something about orange and autumn that go hand in hand. Match up your lacquer with the trees with a deep reddish orange like this one by MAC, to be in perfect sync with the season. For other colors reminiscent of the change of colors, try China Glaze’s Retro Diva Collection. This collection of fall inspired colors is composed of rusty metallic colors
that are in tune with the leaves.
Speaking of metallic colors, those are a great way to make a statement with your nails. Choose typical metallics like gold, silver, and bronze, or more interesting ones with pink undertones like Charmed I’m Sure by L’Oreal Paris Coulour Riche. The mixture of pink and metallic make for a girly manicure with a little bit of character. Anyone else reminded of Daisy Buchanan from The Great Gatsby?
Another thing to try with any polish is the type of finish. Glossy finishes are the usual type of nail polish finishes. However, a matte finish better suits some colors for a more sophisticated and unique look. Combining the finishes can make for really interesting nails like this one from CutePolish on Youtube.
