Everyone loves a new beauty product, especially one that promises to help others as it beautifies you. Stacy Ferguson, otherwise known as Fergie, presented her newest project last Thursday, the most perfect of lipsticks as part of her new collaboration with Wet ‘n’ Wild.
The lip color, which is called the “Perfect Pout V.I. Pink Lip Color” is pink, shimmery, sheer and only $3.49. The best part is, .50 cents of each purchase of the lipstick will go towards the American Foundation for AIDS Research! Although this is one of the first beauty collaborations Fergie has done, it is certainly not the last. Next year, Fergie plans to benefit the American Foundation for AIDS Research by partnering with MAC Cosmetics.
I think Fergie’s work for the American Foundation for AIDS Research is great. It is obviously a cause that Fergie genuinely cares about, “This cause is very close to my heart.” With Fergie’s popularity and fame, to me she is the best person to help bring attention to the issue of AIDS. Although .50 cents of every lipstick sold is a lot of money to donate to the cause, I do wish Fergie was donating all of the proceeds. I only think this because it seems as if the main reason Fergie created this lipstick was for charity, and not to make money off of it. If this is so then why not donate as much money as possible?
Fergie’s work with the American Foundation for AIDS Research has led to her being honored at the American Foundation for AIDS Research annual Gala in Brazil this upcoming April. At this Gala, she will receive the American Foundation for AIDS Research Award of Inspiration, which is an amazing honor. Although I do wish Fergie was donating more money than she is, I should not criticize her when she is doing so much to help a charity that desperately needs as much attention as possible.
