Tangerine is bound to be a color staple after gracing the Spring 2012 runways of several designers during Fashion Week.

According to color trend experts Pantone, the “it” color of 2012 is set to be “Tangerine Tango,” a new breed of reddish orange that will set fire to runways and in-store racks after the new year.
Pantone’s press release regarding the big color announcement of the year says that the lively color “continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.”

Nanette Lepore incorporates tangerine into her Spring 2012 collection in the form of a brightly-colored midi skirt.

A statement-making color, tangerine is not a hue to wear liberally.  When implementing this new 2012 staple color into your wardrobe, think about wearing one bright, stand-out piece with more muted, subdued colors.  For example, wearing a cream sweater with dark jeans, black boots and a bright tangerine satchel would be appropriate for daytime.  For evening, branch out with a punchy tangerine blouse and a classic black pencil skirt.

Well-known designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Nanette Lepore and Elie Tahari have already grabbed the fashion forefront by the horns and shown this color in new collections, while makeup companies like MAC are following suit by offering bright shades of tangerine in lipsticks and nail polish.

Ready to add a little spice into your wardrobe?  Don’t be afraid to invest in some tantalizing “Tangerine Tango” pieces in 2012!
