Chad Ochocinco and Evelyn Lozada

On August 14, we reported that Chad Ochocinco was arrested and charged for domestic violence against his new wife, Evelyn Lozada. After only 5 weeks of marriage, the two made national headlines when Ochocinco reportedly headbutted Lozada during an argument over a condom receipt. CNN has now reported that Lozada has filed for divorce from Ochocinco.

In the midst of the couple’s chaos, things seem to be falling a part. Evelyn and Ochocinco’s wedding as well as a reality show based on the couple’s new life together was scheduled to air on VH1. However, VH1 has cancelled their plans and will no longer air the footage of the two.

To the disappointment of his family and friends, Ochocinco was also released from his prided position with the Miami Dolphins. On the night of the incident, Ochocinco told police Lozada headbutted him. “I am going to let the legal process run its course. I wish Evelyn nothing but the best, I have no negative words to say about her, the only thing I can say is I love her very much,” said Johnson.

In a statement released Tuesday, Lozada said she is “deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me.” She added, “It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not ok and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
