Most 22-year-olds, myself included, are struggling to find themselves in the world. After just graduating college and hopefully on the way to scoring a dream job, many struggle for months and even years to land just one job. While some folks may believe that celebrities ride the easy street of success after clawing their way to the top of the fame game, according to Emma Stone, its the “journey” to get there that’s most touching.
“These past two years, I’ve stopped having to remind myself to be present, which has been the greatest gift,” said Stone to July’s issue of Elle. “Because I know its so fleeting. I’ll kick myself in the ass later on if I don’t enjoy it right now. But it does make you realize so much of the joy of it is the journey. The struggle is such a lovely part of it.”
The recent MTV Movie Award winner, who stars in next month’s Crazy Stupid Love alongside Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling, shares secrets of her past, including maintaining a relationship in the limelight, her red hot career, and her hobbies, which don’t involve dropping thousands on designer bags, but does involve baking yummy treats.
“It’s very controlled,” said Stone, who admits to taking up baking to channel her nervousness. “You know if you put the same amount of whatever is in the recipe, it will come out alright.”
Though baking may put a smile on Miss Stone’s face, the single star has much to be happy about these days. Apart from starring in this month’s The Help with Bryce Dallas Howard, things will certainly being heating up for her next summer when she tackles baddies on the big screen with The Amazing Spider-Man.
While the chemistry between her and Garfield may be a match made in movie heaven, when it comes to finding love off-screen, Stone admits that she’s optimistic. After splitting with then-beau Kieran Culkin, Stone believes that her Mr. Right could be a fellow celeb, despite the less than stellar track records of relationships in the limelight.
“I don’t think that’s true,” says Stone, noting that not all celeb showmances are doomed. “Maybe. But there’s a fair amount that do work… I’m optimistic.”
With a busy summer ahead both this year and next, it looks like Miss Stone doesn’t have to be worried about finding “the one” ASAP, let alone worry about her career slowing down anytime soon.Tags: andrew garfield, Bryce Dallas Howard, Crazy Stupid Love, elle, Emma Stone, Kieran Culkin, ryan gosling, Steve Carrell, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Help
