EarthGang

Two young fellas from Atlanta, GA, Johnny Venus and Doctor Diego Dot are the key ingredients to the hip-hop EarthGang. The two have been friends since they attended Benjamin E. Mays High School and went on to continue their education at the prestigious Hampton University. As rising seniors, Venus a Graphic Design major and Dot a Psychology major, they’ve got their academics on lock, but their music is in a class of its own and they’re passing with flying colors.

With sounds reminiscent of early hip-hop, they’ve got an ATL swag with urban intellect and outlandish originality. The two have been on a role ever since their senior year of high school, when they did their debut performance at their Mays graduation. From then on and out they’ve produced nothing short of amazing.

The mere fact that Venus and Dot are full-time students and still have the mental space for brilliant creative ideas and innovative music is extremely commendable. EarthGang currently has a mixtape out titled The Better Party with other new singles that have been lighting up the cyber skies spreading into the iTunes of college students on each coast. In the past few months they’ve done performances at Agnes Scott College, Spelman College, and Hampton University.  This upcoming May, they’ll be performing at Stanford University. The best thing about these dudes is their authenticity that comes from their humility. These two are not ones to boast about their talent. Instead they just deliver and execute on point every time they hit the booth or the stage.

EarthGang has a new album dropping soon, titled MadMen, that they’re loyal fans have been anxiously anticipating. Often times, Dot and Venus are compared to the legendary group Outkast, which speaks volumes for their potential.  But they say, “We’re making a name for ourselves now. EarthGang. That’s who we are.” Respect. If you haven’t heard of them yet, get hip.

Listen to their single “Opium” below. You can also follow them on twitter : @EarthGang to get more updates about performances and album releases or hit up their website.
