Anyone who is anyone in the fashion industry will tell you that New York Fashion Week is a religious experience to be attended and enjoyed by only the most stylish of masses. Luckily, for those of us who are not as fortunate to attend, this Saturday will be the premiere of the well-anticipated documentary, “The Tents.” Directed by James Belzer, the documentary is said to have the inside scoop on what’s going on behind those grandiose tents with interviews from showing designers such as Betsey Johnson, Donna Karan, Zac Posen, and Carolina Herrera.
According to Belzer, the documentary features the story of the origins of Fashion Week back in 1993 by the CFDA, to how the successful event is presently run. He dishes:
“Looking at the success of recent fashion documentaries such as The September Issue and Valentino: The Last Emperor, there is clearly a burgeoning interest in behind-the-scene stories about the fashion industry. With a diverse range of voices, we take the audience on an exciting journey through NY fashion history. The term “The Tents” now resonates as a metaphor for the fashion show venue itself as well as the overall fashion week experience.”
“The Tents” will premiere at New York’s LGBT Festival on July 23 at 6 p.m. Showing at the SVA Theater, tickets are $14. Check out the trailer here.carolina herrera, fashion, fashion week, mercedes-benz, new york, style, the september issue, the tents, zac posen
