Codes and Keys is avaliable for pre-sale now.

On March 21st, SPIN exclusively revealed that Seattle’s own Death Cab For Cutie plans to kick off their 2011 with a tour and live DVD to support their newest (and seventh!) studio album, Codes and Keys.

The album should be a huge leap happier than the darkness that was Narrow Stairs. Back in October, when Ben Gibbard had the opportunity to sit down with SPIN magazine during the album’s creation, he had a lot to say about change. He explained:

“There are a few songs that Chris wrote all the music for. I cut and pasted and wrote lyrics and arrangements for them. This is the first time that we’ve had multiple compositions that started with Chris’s demos and not mine, which is exciting.”

Codes and Keys is due to be released May 31st. Are you excited for the new sound of Death Cab for Cutie? Did you enjoy their previous record, Narrow Stairs?
