Daniel Radcliffe in his first post-Harry Potter role

Daniel Radcliffe’s first attempt to rid himself of his Harry Potter image is playing the lead in a mysterious thriller set in an old English village.  This July marks the conclusion of the Harry Potter franchise, and more importantly it marks the end of a character British actor Daniel Radcliffe has played for ten years now: Harry Potter.

The Woman in Black marks the actor’s first significant role post-Harry Potter. The big question: will this be a big breakthrough for the actor, or will he just get stuck as that guy who played Harry Potter forever?

I’m looking forward to seeing what Radcliffe has to offer in terms of a more adult role. The trailer doesn’t provide much on this front, although it does showcase a downright creepy atmosphere.

The Woman in Black releases in UK theaters on February 10, 2012.
