Blake Lively and Kate Hudson in cute beach cover ups

With the Summer Solstice a little over a week away, we inch closer to the sands of summer terrain. This transformation in territory also brings about a change in attire, or more specifically, the incorporation of the Beach Cover-Up into our wardrobes. Just as we stress over the right shoes or perfect blazer to complement those beloved boyfriend jeans, the Beach Cover-Up has the laid-back power to string together that string bikini with polish and finesse. Here are several cover-up options that will surely amp the “wow” factor this summer season.

- The Tunic. As chic as it is functional, a lightweight tunic is perfect when worn over a bathing suit. Whether brightly colored, as pictured below, or a simple white button-down, a tunic evokes equal parts beach practicality while also being seriously stylish.

- The Maxi. This season’s overachiever, the Maxi Dress knows no boundaries. From brunch to cocktails and everything in between, the maxi is as trendy as it is versatile. When worn beachside, it is simply elegant without being haughty. Play up the glamour-factor with a wide-brimmed straw hat.

The Summer Dress. A sweet summer frock, like this one from J.Crew, induces images of summer innocence. From poolside to tableside, it is the picture of polished perfection.

Romper by Victoria's Secret

- The Romper. Part shorts, part shirt, the romper captures the essence of summer in its carefree wear-ability and fun appeal. The best part is that it’s totally comfortable and easy to “romp around” in, pun intended.

Whether you choose to don a flirty frock or pump up the playfulness in a romper, you’re guaranteed to “cover-up” in style!
