MAMBA DOWN MAMBA DOWN! How many times have we seen NBA legend Kobe Bryant fall and walk back up and shoot a couple of clutch shots? So many times that we start to believe that there’s nothing that can break the Black Mamba. Nothing! But except for his possible torn achilles tendon that he heard pop at last night’s game against the Golden State Warriors.

After the initial pop of his torn achilles, the Lakers shooting guard hobbled over to the free throw line, tying the game 108-108 with the Warriors. This is the kind of action that the Mamba does, the action that allows us to believe that nothing can break him. Indestructible, I say! Even with such a possible career-ending injury, Bryant can still get back up and shoot, and actually make it in!

Bryant took to Facebook to rant on his current predicament: “This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I’ve done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage.” That was probably the longest post I have ever seen him write on any of his social media accounts. It just breaks my heart hearing the once strong mamba breakdown and feel completely helpless.

Today, he’s undergoing his MRI test to confirm whether he tore his Achilles tendon or not. If he has, then it could be possible that he would be out for the rest of the season, which means no playoffs, unless the rest of the Lakers pick up the slack! Because, quite frankly, Kobe is the Lakers. As a Lakers fan, even I have doubts that the Lakers can continue winning without their main man Kobe Bryant. But I sure do hope they do! But in the mean time, #prayforkobe!

However, knowing that the Lakers won that game with the Warriors with 116-118, even after Kobe left, it brings me hope that they can do this!

He wrote: “Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that was. Maybe this is how my book ends.” But he then reminds himself of the “mamba mentality“: “we don’t quit, we don’t cower, we don’t run. We endure and conquer.” He’s going to be fine. I believe in him.

But if he’s not, will it be the end of the world? What if this really is how his book ends? I shudder to even think of this possibility! But I guess, this way he can spend more time with his family, his kids. Start his retirement early, perhaps? I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to see the Mamba go out. And neither is Kobe Bryant, as he reiterated again and again.

What do you think? Do you think this is the end to Kobe’s basketball career? Or will we see him running up and down the court shooting clutch shots real soon?
