Coldplay has just released the video for their first single off what will be the band’s fifth studio album. The single, “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall,” debuted in early June, generating even more hype for the yet-to-be-named CD. With Chris Martin stating that the album was inspired by ’70s graffiti art and Germany’s anti-Nazi White Rose movement, it’s only natural that their first video be jam-packed with graffiti and paint of every color.
This video is full of black lights, strobe lights, glow in the dark paint, stop-motion animation, jump cuts, neon colors, and splatter paint. Watching Martin jumping around and singing with the added effects is quite trippy and started to give me a headache. However, the fun bright colors inspire happy feelings and the song intertwined with the visuals definitely fits Coldplay’s style.
