Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is the latest single celebrity to adopt a baby! Earlier this week her rep confirmed that she “has adopted a child. She is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson.”

Not too many details have been released about the adoption as you can imagine, but we have learned a few basic ones. Jackson is African-American, was born in the United States and is four months old.

“She has always wanted to be a mom. She is glad to be able to do it on her own now and is so happy to be a mom,” says a source about Theron.

Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend in 2002

The 36 year-old actress, who won an Academy Award for her role in Monster, has not had a serious relationship since her breakup with boyfriend of nine years Stuart Townsend. Theron has spoken in the past about not needing to tie the knot saying marriage was “never something that was important [to me].”

On Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, Charlize talked about how her daily life has changed saying, “I now travel in a pack. Look, it’s been amazing the amount of emails and congratulations.”

When Ryan asked her what baby product she likes the most Charlize replied, “I gotta say, I didn’t think I would be a fan of the swaddling, but the swaddling is pretty amazing. At first it looks like a straitjacket, and you feel like it’s child abuse. But for some reason they just love it.”

We can’t wait to see pics of the proud mom and baby boy! Congrats!
