Kelly Clarkson

Watch out American Idol, The Voice, and X Factor – there’s a new singing competition in town! ABC has just announced that it will be premiering their own singing competition television show this summer and this one is a little bit different!

ABC’s Duets is to debut this summer and has a different twist to it than it’s competing shows. Celebrity singers Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Lionel Richie and Jennifer Nettles will be the mentors on the summer show. Duets will have the celebrity singers scour the country, each picking two singers, and then perform with each singer individually. Each week the mentors and one of their singing partners will perform and one contestant will be eliminated until a winner is picked. The winner of the competition will receive a recording contract with Hollywood Records and a life changing experience!

Kelly Clarkson said in a statement, “The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing I can’t wait to be a part of.”

No premiere date has been set yet, but we’ll just have to wait and see if ABC and the celebrity singers can pull this one off!

This leaves CBS as the only major network without a singing show. Will we be seeing one from them soon?
