It seems that every starlet in Hollywood wants to be a girl on fire, and it looks like Carey Mulligan is currently in the lead. With metallic trending everywhere, it was no surprise that this Brit star arrived in a custom- sequined Prada dress to the 2012 Costume Institute’s Metropolitan of Art gala. Carey, a co-chairman of the event, rocked the red carpet in the gold and silver dress paired with simple bronze heels.
This Great Gatsby star is also a major philanthropist. The dress is currently up for bid on Ebay for over 2,000 dollars, with all proceeds going to help end hunger and support Oxfam America.
The Academy Award nominated actress was not one to walk alone either. Carey recently married Marcus Mumford, lead singer of the band Mumford and Sons, in April. The two were seen on the carpet with smiles on their faces and arms around each other.
While Carey Mulligan takes worthwhile risks on the red carpet, her street style is described in one word: classic. Usually seen in black skinny jeans and solid colors, Carey’s style is perfect for any Audrey Hepburn guru or inspired Francophile.
What makes Carey a true style icon is her minimalist approach to her appearance. Whether she is keeping a short pixie cut or rocking a classic French twist, her hair and make-up never shine her natural beauty. Between The Great Gatsby coming out around this year and her new collaboration with the Coen brothers there is sure to be more great Carey fashion coming soon!Tags: Carey Mulligan, Met Gala 2012, Mumford & Sons, Oxfam America, prada, The Great Gatsby
