If all goes well, humanitarian and U2 frontman Bono will become the richest musician in the world and steal the title from Sir Paul McCartney who is valued at about $1 billion.
Bono bought into the wealthiest social media network early on in 2009, purchasing 2.3% of the shares in Facebook through his private equity firm. His firm bought the Facebook shares for a mere $90 million but three years have passed and now they are valued at a staggering $1.5 billion. Although we may not know how many of these shares Bono personally holds, according to British magazine NME, with the initial public offering of Facebook stock on Friday morning starting at $38 a share, Bono is bound to make a killing.
But this new wealth is not going effect Bono’s music career! NME also reports that U2 going back into the studio and collaborating with people like Will.i.am. and Danger Mouse. The band is also rumored to be working with the songwriters who wrote One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.” We can still expect Bono and his band to make great music for their fans the the future.Tags: Bono, Facebook, U2
