SAG Awards air this Sunday

The Screen Actors Guild Awards, better known as the SAG Awards, will be airing this Sunday night on TNT. The SAG Awards is probably the least watched award show out there—even less watched than the Critic’s Choice Awards which airs on the once great, now filled with hot messes network, known as VH1. I consider myself an award show enthusiast, and I haven’t even watched this one. It just seems kind of boring. more…

English-speaking women are the forerunners of a new trend in speech, and although it may have escaped your radar for such things, you’ve heard it. Whether using the technical term “vocal fry” or the more descriptive “creaky voice,” the phenomenon is characterized by the same basic traits: lowered pitch and gravelly tone. more…

Host Jane Lynch Goes For the Gold

This year’s Emmy Awards had its share of shoe-ins, surprises, and let-downs.  The Emmy judges picked their favorites early on, and a certain show swept their category almost completely, with multiple actors, writers, and directors from the same show vying against each other, stacked in a way that almost seemed unfair.  But bitter thoughts are slim this morning, as overall the show was diplomatic, handing out awards to at least someone in almost all of the year’s best shows — almost. more…

Jason Sudeikis

Jason Sudeikis’ star has definitely been on the rise. This year the Kansas native was in three movies, hosted the MTV Movie Awards, and now he’s been cast in the HBO hit Eastbound and Down‘s last season.

The SNL funny man got his start doing improv with Second City and ImprovOlympic.  Not everybody knows this, but Jason Sudeikis almost gave up on improv to try out for the Blue Man Group. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sudeikis revealed his dream of drumming while blue: more…

Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan

Recently, Tracy Morgan had a stand-up show in Nashville where he launched into a homophobic rant saying, “the gays needed to quit being p*ssies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying.”  Morgan also said that if his son was ever gay “he would pull out a knife and stab that little n***** to death.” more…

A scene from Thursday night's live episode of '30 Rock.'

The critically-acclaimed yet not highly-rated 30 Rock finally got a much-needed boost in ratings last night with their live episode. The NBC comedy saw a 43% increase over last week in adults aged 18-49, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The live 30 Rock episode was certainly widely-publicized and highly-anticipated. Overall, it was a decent episode, but not one of the series’ best. more…

Geeks of the world rejoiced at the 41st annual Comic-Con held July 22 to July 25 in San Diego. But Comic-Con is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi convention. It has become one of the biggest events in pop culture of the year. This four-day star-studded event has been the place for fans to watch sneak peeks of new movies and TV shows. more…

Steve Carell as Michael Scott on 'The Office.'

It’s been a sad year for fans of The Office. With more drama than lighthearted comedy, this season has undoubtedly been the worst of the series. Even more tragic is the confirmation of Steve Carell’s departure from the show when the upcoming seventh season ends.

Carell told Entertainment Weekly he will be leaving the hit NBC comedy after season 7 at the premiere of his new animated movie Despicable Me this past weekend. “I think it’s a good time to move on,” Carell said. “I just want to spend more time with my family.”

This news is not really surprising. At the end of a BBC Radio interview promoting his new film Date Night with co-star Tina Fey, Carell said he would more…
