Heidi Klum and her husband of six years (and eight months), Seal, are shocking the world by getting a divorce. News broke Saturday that the “Project Runway” host planned to file for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” as reason for the split and the couple confirmed this rumor on Monday.
Klum and Seal made their statement to People saying, “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.”
“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.
“We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”
The couple was married in Mexico in 2005. Since then, they have spent every anniversary renewing their vows proving their love and romance as real.
Klum arrived at the Golden Globes a week ago looking stunning but without hubby in arm. The last picture seen of the two together was from Klum’s twitter page in December when the couple was in Aspen.
The singer tweeted a picture of his new tattoo on January 20. The new arm tat looks like a pair of Angel wings (could it represent Heidi being a Victoria’s Secret Angel?). The tweet was sadly captioned with “The End.”

There was a lot of speculation leading up to the couple’s confirmation. Us Weekly had informed us the couple was trying to make it work. The 38-year-old model and 48-year-old singer have “had a very rough road lately,” says a friend of the couple. “It’s been very hard. but there is a lot of love there, and any decision that will be made is a tough one because they have beautiful children who they both love very deeply.”

Klum and Seal have three children together, Henry, Johan, and Lou, along with Klum’s daugher from her previous marriage, Leni, whom Seal adopted in 2007.
With this Hollywood couple, known for being gorgeous and head over heels in love, throwing in the towel, it leaves us thinking, is love in Hollywood even possible? We’re entertainment guru’s over here but like most, we love love and we’re bummed at how we fall in love with these couples too, then watch it crumble.
We see it on TV shows– from The Bachelor to VH1′s Rock of Love to reality shows like The Hills. We also see it on the red carpet and in magazines.
Seal and Heidi were a couple that we depended on to remain strong because they seemed so happy. Now we are left wondering and thinking about the other couples we loved and lost over time. Most recently its been Katy Perry & Russell Brand, Avril Lavigne & Brody Jenner, J. Lo & Marc Anthony, and Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher.
