ASAP Rocky

When you Google ASAP Rocky, you’ll find very little background information on him, but that has not stopped everyone from listening to his music. The Harlem bred rapper just showed up on our doorsteps one day and never went home. Since dropping his first mix-tape, Deep Purple, ASAP has taken over the internet with tour promotions, interviews and single releases. And the release of his most recent mix-tape, Live.Love.A$AP, is going to put him on more than just the internet’s radar. more…

Chloe Moretz

Most people in their early teens don’t know that much about fashion. Most people (including me) went through an Aeropostale/Hollister phase in their late tween/early teen stage. However, there are some people out there that never had any of these problems, and one of them is Chloë Moretz. more…

Il Volo

Il Volo, the Italian music trio, performed at the Detroit Opera House on Thursday. The group has become increasingly popular, especially after their recent performance on American Idol’s 10th season results show. They also appeared on Entourage’s series finale, singing their song “Un Amore Cosi Grande.”

What’s shocking about this trio is that they are all teenagers. The group consists of two tenors, Piero Barone, 18, and Ignazio Boschetto, 17, and baritone Gianluca Ginoble, 16. more…

The parenting group One Million Moms recently had a hand in having Ben and Jerry’s “Schweddy Balls” ice cream pulled from store shelves. After deeming the flavor’s name indecent, they gained enough support to send store managers cowering in fear of their threats of boycott.

At first, I could understand their reasoning. Not every parent wants to hear their child say, “Can I have some ‘Schweddy Balls?’” But then I saw this, and suddenly – in the kind of scene akin to when a sweet, elderly person makes a shocking display of racism – One Million Moms’ concerned parenting started looking a little bit like hate speech. more…

East Village Jacket

This weekend was a little taste of winter for me, and as the days went by I came to realize that I was not prepared. Meaning, it was definitely time to update my closet with winter outwear, shoes, and accessories. So to help prepare you and keep you warm, I have picked out a few items that you’ll need this snowy season. more…

Evetta Petty Modeling One of Her Hats

Evetta Petty knows how to top things off.  As a student at FIT, Evetta Petty was falling in love with the art of designing elaborate hats. However, she had no idea that her love for hats would turn into a successful career of designing and selling her own hats out of a Harlem boutique.

After graduating FIT in 1983, Petty began working behind the scenes at fashion shows, wearing homemade hats to church and other events, and people were noticing. She decided to place a few of her designs in her family’s shop in SoHo. more…
