Lykke Li

Swedish songstress Lykke Li‘s latest video, released at the end of April, is a study in an almost French New Wave/silent movie tension, interrupted by giggles and drunken dancing.  The clip, colored like Sofia Coppola filmed it, co-stars the aggravating math professor from Good Will Hunting.  Li lives out the fantasy of anyone that’s ever been to a stuffy party as she spins through a formal dining room painted with trussed-up bourgeois, while the video, at the same time, runs deep, hinting at a far greater emotional undercurrent.  Check it out after the jump:

Two thumbs up for Lykke Li’s shoulder-driven dance moves and the heartbreaking undertone of this gorgeous little 7 minute trip into love, loss, suffocation, and supplication.  A somewhat nasally voice may emerge from Li’s beautiful lips, but I have a feeling we’ll be seeing those pretty pucker-ups for a long time if Sweden’s darling keeps churning out enchanting tidbits like this one.
