Jessie J

Jessie J literally sent a chill down my spine when I first heard her raw and pure voice. Born in the UK, Jessie J has been writing songs for like American artists Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, and Christina Aguilera over the years, but now Jessie J is embarking on her solo journey.

With vocals like a niece of Joss Stone or Duffy, this Brit-born phenomenon is about to take the world by storm. Her small frame and blunt bob cut adds to the surprise that occurs when she opens up her mouth.

Jessie recently released her debut single “Do it Like a Dude” which just missed to the top spot on the charts. No worries, her album Who You Are, released at the end of February, is already considered a hit.  Her subsequent single, “Price Tag,” featuring B.o.B also did incredibly well. Already a star in the UK, its time for her to plant her seed in US soil. She explained that she was never “based” in America, but after being granted a record deal, she knew it was not an opportunity that she could give up.

Jessie considers herself both a singer and songwriter, but now it’s time for her talent to get recognized. Music has always been apart of her. She explained that her life “was always music oriented” and her sound and performance style is influenced by her love for soul and funk music.

Her strong and gritty voice angelically plays out every note. With her album Who You Are she gives different sides to her songs and wisely picked versatile lyrical content for each track. Jessie J says that “life” is what inspires her to create and build upon her craft. In addition to her new album, look out for Jessie J in her upcoming tour dates and appearances, mostly overseas right now.
