Aquinos Designs at the Show

Last Saturday, Andres Aquino revealed his goddess-inspired collection to hundreds of fashion-lovers in the Grand Ballroom at the Waldorf Astoria’s Couture Fashion Week.

Couture Fashion Week is a multi-day event showcasing couture and luxury fashion.  It also includes exhibits of fine art and world-class entertainment.

Male Model featured on the runway

As founder and producer of Couture Fashion Week, launched in 2003, Aquino oversees all production aspects from sponsors to designers, to venue selection and model casting. Other international designers get the chance to display their collection from Friday to Sunday as well.

This season Mr. Aquino wanted to salute those suffering from diabetes, and partnered with The American Diabetes Association for the event.  “Since my own mother is affected by this disease, I have a personal interest in finding a cure,” said Aquinos.

The show showcased musical talent, tango dancing, and an array of  multicolored models.  Saxophonist Sweet Lew set the mood of the show with his opening number. It accentuated the deep blue lighting and dark red shades worn by the models. Other performers included Christina Fontanelli, Sarah Elizabeth Charles and Christine Reber.

Modern Day Wedding Gown

Each model demanded attention by walking the first line, then walking down the middle and crossing over to the finish line. Aquinos unveiled a collection of dresses: prom style, wedding gown, elegant, and men’s fashion.  The only male model sported a maroon silk scarf worth $625!

After the show, Andres and the models came back out on the runway for the final goodbye. Andres waved as camera flashes scattered around the ballroom. The announcer invited guests to the auction held across the ballroom and welcomed donations to The American Diabetes Association. The guest with the highest donation won a stay at the Waldorf Astoria.

That sounds like a sweet deal to me!
