Crystal Renn

Crystal Renn walked the haute couture runways in Paris at Jean Paul Gautier and appeared in advertisements for Dolce & Gabanna, feats that many skinny, “straight” sized models hope to accomplish in their careers.  Renn achieved this at a size fourteen, after she finally fed the body she starved down to ninety-eight pounds in order to fit into a size zero.  But the curvaceous, size twelve body that shot Renn to fame has now dwindled down to a size eight.  Should fans of the formerly plus-size supermodel be worried that she has fallen back into old habits?

Crystal Renn's New Look

Renn assures her fans that they have no need to worry and that her current weight is the result of an active lifestyle, after avoiding exercise for the past eight years.  “I’d suffered an eating disorder and I used to exercise eight hours a day. But I’ve recovered. It’s time to change things, to give it a chance again.”  Renn tells New York Magazine. “In the past, I avoided exercise because it brought back terrible feelings. I wasn’t ready. And I was scared that maybe I was going to be addicted again. That’s a fear that goes through your mind, whenever you’re getting over an addiction or a disease like anorexia, yeah, I absolutely was worried.”

Instead of spending hours upon hours on the treadmill, these days Renn practices yoga in her home and goes hiking.  She insists that the weight loss has nothing to do with the work she’s been receiving, such as walking in Paris for Chanel and Zac Posen, but the positivity that radiates as a result of the healthier outlook she has on life.  “In the past year, I’ve made a lot of big changes in my life and I’m happier than ever. And I think I’m probably in the best place I’ve ever been.”
