Chelsea Clinton may not live in the White House anymore, but she can now look forward to her own white house someday with her new husband Marc Mezvinsky – and this one may come with a picket fence. The former presidential daughter wed her boyfriend of five years in Rhinebeck, New York at the beautiful Astor Courts, a Hudson riverfront estate, in front of 400 guests this weekend.
Clinton, 30, and Mezvinsky, 32, met in 1993 and were teenage friends in Washington before eventually attending Stanford University together. The newly married couple now lives in New York, where Mezvinsky works at G3 Capital, a Manhattan hedge fund. Clinton recently earned her master’s degree at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
Unlike other high-profile weddings in which half the guest list are Hollywood stars, the only recognizable names at Clinton’s and Mezvinsky’s celebration included couple Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, and her parents, former president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The bride walked down the aisle in a strapless gown designed by close family friend Vera Wang. In the weeks prior to Clinton’s wedding, there was plenty of gossip about its potentially high price tag, cost rumors ranged from $1 million to $5 million. Family friends have denied such estimates, however.
As for Mom and Dad, it seems they were more than happy to offer their blessing. The proud parents released a positive statement after the wedding, part of which read, “We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family.†Unlike other, difficult political decisions the Clintons have had to make, this one was a piece of cake – wedding cake, that is.
