The cast of Lost plans for life after ABC series

Their days on the island may be over, but the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 are taking on new adventures. After crashing into our lives six years ago, the cast of Lost has constantly entertained us with their unique personalities and intriguing storylines. Now,with the completion of Sunday’s two-and-a-half hour series finale, we can follow our favorite castaways in their new projects in both television and film.

To catch up with a few of our favorite characters from the popular, now completed ABC drama, we won’t even have to change the channel. The new series, V, for instance, which airs every Tuesday night at 10 p.m., features Elizabeth Mitchell, who played the former Lost character, Juliet Burke. On V, a remake of the 1983 miniseries about alien invaders, Mitchell plays the FBI agent and concerned single mother Erica Evans. A role perhaps as demanding as her stint on Lost, Mitchell, as Evans, now has the task of stopping the evil intentions of extraterrestrial Visitors while trying to keep her teenage son safe.

Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) also remained on ABC after his stay on the island. He landed a spot on the recently cancelled FlashForward, a thriller in which characters saw a flash of their future lives in a mysterious blackout. Monaghan had a key role on the show as the scientific genius Simon Campos. Sonya Walger, known for her former Lost role as Penelope Whidmore, also starred in this new original series as the successful trauma surgeon Dr. Olivia Benford. After FlashForward’s final episode this Thursday at 8 p.m., Walger can be seen in the 2011 thriller The Factory alongside John Cusack.

Other Lost cast members, such as Daniel Dae Kim (Jin), also have notable and upcoming projects. Kim’s character may have been killed off Lost a few episodes shy of the finale, but the actor will soon return to the small screen, fighting crime in his new role as Chin Ho in the remake of the 1968-1980 television series, Hawaii Five-O. Kim can be seen in this modern take on the classic series on CBS this fall.

For Jack-Kate-Sawyer fans: your favorite trio may no longer be together, but don’t let that discourage you from following each character in their new, individual endeavors.

As the handsome and take-charge doctor Jack Shephard, Matthew Fox was a compelling leader on the show. After completing the second of two six-year TV shows – the first being the 90s drama, Party of Five – the actor, in addition to spending more time with his wife and children, now looks forward to a change in mediums. Fox, who has already appeared in movies such as Vantage Point and We Are Marshall, will continue to pursue a career in film.

Evangeline Lilly (Kate), who is also credited with movie roles, such as in this year’s Academy Award-winning Best Picture, The Hurt Locker, will join the cast of Real Steel, a sci-fi Steven Spielberg film starring Hugh Jackman. Lilly, who was used to time traveling on the island, should have a smooth time transitioning into this futuristic film about fighting robots.

Josh Holloway, who played the sarcastic, nickname-calling Sawyer, has also stated his plans for a career in film acting.

With all of their promising, post-island entertainment projects, the stranded cast members of Lost won’t be hard to find.
