Erykah Badu
The way she mixes R&B, Hip hop and Jazz, is what makes her muliti-talented. Her distinctive style is the reason we label her as unique. But, the release of her new video “Window seat†is what makes Erykah Badu so controversial in today’s media.
She is the definition of individual style. From her trademark head wraps to her soulful vibe; everything Badu does seems to be remembered. Some know her as “The Queen of Neo- Soul†while others remember her best for her hit single Bag Lady. The release of her new video walking down the streets of Dallas, Texas nude is another thing to add to our list.
The singer was charged with disorderly conduct by Dallas, Texas police. But, Badu was out in no way shape or form to hurt and offend anyone. Her video was set out to empower women, men and children around the world on the importance of freedom.Â
“I’m free. I just do what I want, say what I want, say how I feel, and I don’t try to hurt nobody. I just try to make sure that I don’t compromise my art in any kind of way, and I think people respect that,†she said.
The question we’ll never know the answer to is, “why can’t we give this woman some type of credit?”
The release of her fifth album “New Amerykah Part Two†(Return of the Ankh), was released on March 30, 2010. The album that sold 110,400 copies is the Erykah Badu we know best, but on a different level.
“But now I realize that this record business really needs me. No one else is trying to take a chance or do something different,†said Badu.  I agree.
