Nautical-StripesNautical stripes are associated with yachts and beaches, and not to mention vintage swimwear. But the trend has been showing up on the runways of Charlotte Ronson, Peter Som, Alexander Wang and Louis Vuitton. But there is more to the trend besides the stripes. What about the rope, brass buttons and gold anchor accessories; as well as a color palette of whites, navys and reds. Combined, a fabulous trend is formed that has been around for many years.

Starting with the basics –nautical stripes. Even though most women would shy away from the trend because of the theory that “horizontal stripes make one look fat’, the trend is popular. Classic nautical stripes thin lines of navy and cream. But lately, they have been showing up in an array of different colors. Red and Cream is a hit. Loose shirts paired with navy or denim jeans. A nautical striped tee shirt dress is also a must have.

Keeping navy in the wardrobe with brass accessories is along the nautical vibe. Accenting the classy ‘nautical colors’ with brass is a great look for spring. The classic is the nautical shorts with six buttons in the front. Rope accents are also a hit, perhaps wedge or a jacket with the detail. The nautical trend is just right for spring because it is a fun, summer look easy to pull off, with accents such as brass and rope.
