With the Twilight series being a big hit in theaters, it’s no surprise that several new looks have emerged as a result. Although “vampire†looks may be a bit dramatic, there’s a way to subtly add the look into your make up routine. Whether you’re going for the “mortal†or “vampire†look, there is a way to make it work while looking less like a vampire and more like a Bella Swan.
Twilight has two sets of characters, mortals or vampires. Both have been great inspiration for beauty trends. In Twilight, mortals have a neutral, “nude†look. Golden hues are ideal for the eyes. Swipe a gold shadow under the eye and inner corners. For cheeks, go with a soft pink glow. The look should be topped off with a simple mascara and pink-nude lip gloss. The look should be kept simple and the most dramatic thing should be the mascara.
Vampires always make a statement, especially when it comes to beauty, at least in New Moon. For a “just bitten” look, go with a lip stain. Another recommendation is to try dabbing a deep burgundy lipstick on and pressing your lips together. The look is also great for the upcoming holidays.
Also known for their piercing eyes, Twilight is a big fan of smoky eyes. You can create the same look without being a vampire. Certain shadows can make the eye color appear different. Purple eye shadows can bring out the golden flecks in brown and green eyes. Runway designer, Derek Lam, used bronze and peach eye shadows to bring out blue eyes.
Apply the shade under and above the eye. A darker shade of the color with shimmer is best. Thereafter, line the inner eye with black charcoal eyeliner. This gives the eyes a “piercing†effect and makes your eyes stand out. Another way to make eyes stand out is with a dark chestnut color. Apply it on eyelids, all the way to the crease, as well as the lower lash lines. Top of with mascara, for a smoky-eye look.
As for hair, it’s simple and sleek. Skin is pale, just like most of ours is in winter. The looks can be recreated without looking too dramatic or like a vampire. Most designers get inspiration on what they see around them, such as movies. So why not take a couple of beauty trends from the top selling movie.
