Lady Gaga has risen on the charts, with her re-package album, The ‘Fame Monster,’ which has two covers. With original lyrics and beats, no wonder she’s a big hit. As for her appearance, she is one of a kind with ever changing looks. Her new music video, “Bad Romance†shows Gaga up close and personal, where she is barely wearing any make up, compared to her regular appearance.
Her first album, The Fame, which sold 4 million copies, has a funk 80’s vibe as well as disco. ‘The Fame Monster’, which was released November 24, has more electronic, dramatic beats, and features 8 new songs from Gaga. Some of the songs have jazz inspiration such as ‘Speechless’ and some take a 180 to country, like ‘Teeth.’
Unlike her first album, this one shows the downside of fame. “While traveling the world for two years, I’ve encountered several monsters, each represented by a different song on the new record,†said Gaga. The “monsters†have to do with sex, love and alcohol, which we clearly hear on the album. Lyrics from her song Monster are “We french kissed on a subway train/He tore my clothes right off/He ate my heart then he ate my brain.”
Besides some slow ballads, “The Fame Monster” also has several dancable tunes such as ‘Alejandro’, ‘Teeth’, and ‘Telephone’- which features Beyonce. But still we see the “monster” in her lyrics. “She’s just a baby/But her boyfriend’s like a dad, just like a dad/Draw those flames that burn before him/Now he’s gonna find a fight, gonna fool the bad,” from Alejandro.
So where does the inspiration come from? “I spent a lot of nights in Eastern Europe, and this album is a pop experimentation with industrial/Goth beats, 90′s dance melodies, an obsession with the lyrical genius of 80′s melancholic pop, and the runway,” says the Lady. It definately shows, no two songs are alike on the album and each has a individualistic style. “I wrote every piece on the road – no songs about money, no songs about fame. I wrote it for my fans, so I wrote everything in between.”
