Awards season has officially started! Last night at the People’s Choice Awards, stars rolled in from all over to make an appearance. The person with the most nominations, Katy Perry, didn’t show, which is understandable with the divorce going on in her life.
However, 2011 was not a bad year for her. Even while not present she still managed to collect five out of seven awards, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Tour Headliner, Song of the Year (“ET”), Music Video for “Last Friday Night,” and last but not least, TV guest star for How I Met Your Mother. Whew, not a bad night.
The other big winners, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 managed to scoop up four awards including, Favorite Movie, Action Movie, Book Adaptation, and Ensemble Movie Cast.
The big event of the night was to Betty White, who is celebrating her 90th birthday. Yes, I said 90. She is still one of the funniest around and proved that with the cast of Hot in Cleveland winning Best Cable Show Comedy.
The hilarious movie, Bridesmaids, was the winner in the Favorite Movie Comedy category. After accepting the award Maya Rudolph, Ellie Kemper Wendi McClendon-Covey and director Paul Feig all broke into a performance of “Hold On,” the Wilson Philips hit that was part of the film. That cast is always keeping us on our toes!
Other winners of the night were Emma Stone for Favorite Movie Actress and Comedic Movie Actress, Neil Patrick Harris for Favorite TV Comedy Actor, Lea Michele for Favorite TV Comedy Actress, and Favorite R&B Artist went to Rihanna.
