The 139th Kentucky Derby, the annual race for the roses, brought big hats, celebs and celebrity burn outs still looking for a chance in the spotlight . The fashion at the derby is my favorite of the season. I love the bright color palettes and preppy patterns and there was definitely not a lack of either at this year’s race.
The were many star athlete from Louisville basketball coach, Rick Pitino to NFL player Warren Moon to Julius Erving. Athletes were spotted at Grey Goose’s Red Carpet Lounge along with Monet’s set-up.
Martina Mcbride was present to sing the national anthem. She looked race-day chic with her hat a peplum top. I like how she did not go overboard with accessories, but finished her outfit off with a few silver bracelets and a ring that full the outfit together.
I also look forward to seeing what Lauren Conrad wears, but this year I was simply not impressed. She does look elegant and sophisticated. I love the shape of her flattering dress, but I wish it was in a different color. I think the beige color washed out her skin tone and completely matches her blonde locks. I definitely have seen better from the style icon. Her hat is cute, though.
I am raving about Luke Bryan’s look. He and his wife Caroline arrive at Churchill Downs Saturday decked out and in my opinion, the best dressed couple. He looked dashing in his blue suit with coordinating under shirt and man-accessories, like his watch and hat. This look is a far cry from cowboy boots and tattered jeans. He cleans up nicely — not to mention his wife is stunning.
And what would the Kentucky Derby be without a few “fallen stars?” Lance Bass was spotted at Moet & Chandon signing a giant bottle of Moet for the Churchill Downs Foundation. He was in good company with Kid Rock and Actor Jason Biggs.139th Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Derby, Lauren Conrad, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride
