Beirut's cover for the 7" 'East Harlem' Vinyl, available only at live shows.

Leaked onto the internet just before it could reach its intended release today (but what new music isn’t being leaked early these days?), Beirut is back with a damn good single. “East Harlem” is the first from their new album, set to be out this summer via Zach Condon’s label, Pompeii.

Beirut seems to have gone back to his stellar debut, Gulag Orkestar, for a bit of the sound techniques, but it’s just as glorious as you would expect. My personal opinion? The song has got rhythm and bounce, it’s a lovely redirection and hits all the marks. I am loving “East Harlem” and can’t wait to see Beirut on one (or even two!) of his upcoming tour dates.

Listen to the single below and let us know how you feel in the comments!

Are you heading to any of Beirut’s upcoming tour dates? How do feel about the band’s redirection after March of the Zapotec/Realpeople:Holland ?
