"Mad Men"

The cast of AMC’s Emmy-winning television series “Mad Men” has long been praised for their costume design, with actresses donning sixties-esque form-fitting dresses and the dapper men in well-tailored suits. Those wishing to emanate this flashback style can now turn to Banana Republic, who has launched a limited edition “Mad Men”-inspired collection. In collaboration with the show’s costume designer Janie Bryant, the line will be featured online and in stores starting August 11, 2011.

In response to the collaboration, Banana Republic Creative Director Simon Kneen says:

“Working with Janie to gain a true understanding of the ‘Mad Men’ look and feel was a delight. Janie was instrumental in helping us achieve the series aesthetic and standard of authenticity with this capsule collection, offering sketches, her own inspirations and actual artifacts from the production set to help inspire the ‘Mad Men’ within all of us.”

The collection will include apparel and accessories for both men and women, totaling 65 brand new pieces for the fall. The women’s items will be modern, yet infused with a ’60s twist. Trench coats, high-waisted skirts, scarves, and even seductive leopard print heels will be among the pieces available for purchase. The men will have their choice of fedora hats, money clips, knit sweaters and tailored suits.

Get a sneak peek to the release on the official Banana Republic Facebook page, where they will be putting up webisodes with a behind-the-scenes look at the collection, from the drawing boards to its launch, starting August 11.
