Conor Maynard, a 19-year-old singer born and raised in Great Britain, is hoping to find success in the U.S.
Maynard is no hidden talent across the pond in the U.K. With his No.2 single, “Can’t Say No,” the singer has had a taste of success in his native land. However, the young singer is hoping to find fame here in America with his debut U.S. single, “Vegas Girl.”
Maynard’s music mixes a sound of pop, R&B and even hip-hop. His voice is a subtle reminder of Justin Timberlake during his solo career days. It’s no wonder Maynard’s voice is Justin-esque; the British singer grew up listening to Timberlake, Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
In 2006, Maynard began uploading videos of himself on YouTube. The singer covered artists including Chris Brown, Taio Cruz, Rihanna and Ne-Yo, eventually catching the eye of Ne-Yo and Taio Cruz. The singers contacted Maynard and offered to sign and produce him.
Today Maynard is working in the studio on his debut album from Capitol Records, which is expected to drop on September 18.
Ne-Yo predicts Maynard will “change the future of pop music.”
What do you think? Does Conor Maynard have what it takes to make it here in the U.S.?
