Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes has taken her DUI case to the one person she thinks can help her out—Barack Obama.

At a hearing on Tuesday, the 26-year-old actress was officially charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The charge dates back to her April 6 arrest when she was accused of sideswiping a police car while attempting to make a right hand turn. The incident occurred in West Hollywood where the “What I Like About You” star refused to take a Breathalyzer or drug test.

Following the hearing, Bynes tweeted to the president: “Hey @BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me.” Bynes also wrote to the President’s re-election campaign Twitter account, “I also don’t hit and run. The end.”

Nearly a month after her April 6 incident, Bynes was involved in a reported hit-and-run, according to TMZ. She sideswiped another vehicle in her Range Rover SUV while attempting to pass on the right. Although the actress continues to drive after making contact, she cooperated with police when they caught up with her and told the authorities she didn’t know she had hit the other car. Recently, she has also been seen backing over a curb while texting and holding up traffic while attempting a three-point U-turn.

An arraignment for Bynes’ DUI case has been scheduled for Wednesday morning, but only her lawyer will appear in court because it is a misdemeanor charge. Beverly Hills Court Judge Elden Fox is scheduled to be hearing her case. Fox has also presided over the majority of Lindsay Lohan’s DUI case.
