ALTUZARRA is the winner of the 8th annual CFDA Fashion Fund Awards, which took place on Monday, November 14, at Skylight Studios in New York City. Runners up were Creatures of the Wind and Pamela Love, among finalists Antonio Azzuolo, Carlos Campos, Cushnie et Ochs, Fenton Fallon, Finn Jewelry, Ohne Titel, and Suno.

The CFDA Fashion Fund Awards is a collaboration between the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) and Vogue magazine to create an endowment to support the next generation of American fashion designers. Award recipients are selected by a Committee of industry experts, based on talent and potential. This year’s selection committee was made up of Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough of Proenza Schouler, Vogue’s Mark Holgate, Nordstrom’s Jeffrey Kalinsky, Coach’s Reed Krakoff, J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons, Theory’s Andrew Rosen, and CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg.

As winner of the Fund award, ALTUZARRA will take home $300,000 to put towards his business. ALTUZARRA, based in New York, produces practical and contemporary clothing for the modern professional woman. The visionary behind the brand, Joseph Altuzarra, had before ALTUZARRA worked for renowned designers like Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, and Givenchy.  The talented designer was nominated for the CFDA Fund Award last year, as well as the Swarovski Award for Womenswear in 2010 and 2011.

Creatures of the Wind and Pamela Love will each receive $100,000 to put towards their own businesses. They, along with ALTUZARRA, will receive mentorship from the esteemed CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s Business Advisory.
