Allison Phongsymay, 19-year-old Atlantic City native, doesn’t believe in sticking to one specific style. As a passionate lover of fashion, Phongsymay believes that it’s not about what brands you wear, but how you wear them.
She stresses that it’s not about sticking to a certain style aspect, but about embracing all kinds of different styles and making them your own. She always says, “You have to be comfortable with style. Otherwise, you won’t look good because you don’t feel good.”
What does style mean to you?
Style isn’t so much about who you wear, it’s about how you take something that you like and incorporate it into your looks. Looking good starts from within. You have to love what you wear, other wise you won’t feel good in it. And why wear something you don’t like?
Where do you get your style influence from?
I don’t follow celebrities, or anything like that. I just know what I like, and pair it with things I think would go together.
How do you pick out your outfits?
It’s all based on my mood. If I feel down, I want to spice my look up to make myself feel better, not wear sweats and mope all day.
How do you know what to splurge on, and what to save on?
It’s all about what you’ll get the most out of. I’m not going to spend $100+ on a cute purse that I’ll wear for one season. I’ll want to spend a lot on things that will last me years and I can pull out during whatever season. Everything else can just be bought at Forever 21 or H&M if you don’t want to spend a lot, and you probably won’t wear it for too long.
What kind of advise would you give to someone if they wanted to change up their usual look or style?
Do it! Now is the time to experiment with looks. Stop being afraid of what anyone else thinks, and do it for yourself. Have fun, and don’t be hard on yourself; everyone is trying out new things these days.Tags: atlantic city, chic ctreet, city, personal style, style, tips
