Adam Sandler

The trailer for Adam Sandler’s new movie, Jack and Jill, was released recently, and it does not look good.

In the film, Sandler plays fraternal twins who seem to despise each other but over the course of the film reconnect and overcome their differences. The premise would be cute if it didn’t involve Adam Sandler in drag, playing both twins.  It was much cuter when Lindsay Lohan played twins in The Parent Trap.

In Jack and Jill, Katie Holmes plays the part of Jack’s sensible wife and fellow SNL alum Tim Meadows also stars alongside Nick Swardson.

After watching the trailer, I find myself wondering why it was necessary for Sandler to be in drag at all. What would Chris Rock think? There isn’t such a shortage of funny women in Hollywood that Adam Sandler has to put on a dress for laughs. Pretty much any cast member of Bridesmaids probably could have gone toe to toe with Sandler. I would love to see Melissa Mcarthy play the part of Jill.

But maybe this movie has a surprise twist that makes it less horrible than it appears. Jack and Jill has a November 11, 2011 release date. Watch the trailer below.
