Alexander Wang was one of the several designers at this season's NYFW whose collection showed military elements

  • The most prominent NYFW trend this year seems to be military elements. Designers Alexander Wang, Tommy Hilfiger, Jason Wu, L.A.M.B., and Victoria Beckham were only a few who displayed military-inspired marks in their collections.
  • Much to the industry’s dismay, Karlie Kloss has not and will not be walking NYFW this year.
  • Prabal Gurung's makeup design

For her NYFW, designer Doo-Ri Chung envisioned a woman who “really takes care of herself, and who’s mindful of what she puts out there. We’ve been so item-driven (in fashion). I wanted to change that in this collection.” Chung’s collection consisted of a lot of draping and “laser-cut” detailing. (The Washington Post)

  • The most raved-about runway makeup look at this year’s NYFW was at Prabal Gurung, which consisted of anything-but-subtle blue shadows contouring the eyes up until the brow-bone.
  • One of the most raved-about Fall 2012 collections was Derek Lam’s, which featured classic trench-coats, below-the-knee pencil skirts, meticulously tailored trousers, and perfect ‘60s hairstyles.
  • Diane Von Furstenburg called her Fall 2012 collection “provocative, but not in a Kardashian way.” (Vogue)
  • Altuzarra’s NYFW collection showcased body-conscious silhouettes, as well as innovative plays with texture (think fur styled with leather and suede – all at once). (WWD)
  • Carlos Campos’s NYFW hit the heart of innovative color-blocking, utilizing a new V-shape to express his interpretation of the trend instead of the usual “block.”

  • Apparently, current French Vogue editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt and former French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld cannot be in close proximity to each other at shows, assuming that the alleged drama between the two is still at a height. (The Cut)
  • Danish model and former Victoria’s Secret angel Helena Christenson called EDUN’s latest collection “The strongest, most solid collection they’ve ever presented. Especially the roomy pants and the boots – beautiful.” (Hint Mag)
  • Gisele Bundchen, who was recently named “the best-paid model” by the Daily Mail, made a surprise appearance at Alexander Wang’s show, in which the audience (rightfully) responded with glee.
