Jonah Hill recently tweeted that production on a 21 Jump Street remake has finished. Hill, who wrote and starred in the film adaptation of the TV show, said that the reboot has a March, 16, 2012 release date.
The original show, made in the 80′s, launched a very young Johnny Depp’s career. 21 Jump Street focused on a group of young police officers who often went under cover in high schools to deal with drug and alcohol violations.
Johnny Depp is actually set to star in the remake, alongside Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. Hill is going to play the part of Officer Doug Penhall and has reportedly lost 30 pounds for the role. James Franco’s brother, Dave Franco, and Rob Riggle also star.
Is the remake of this crime drama going to be a comedy? Because if so I think I just lost any vestigial interest I had in seeing the project. The golden era of buddy cop comedy flicks is over. Doesn’t anyone remember how bad The Other Guys was?Tags: 21 Jump Street, Channing Tatum, james franco, Johnny Depp, Jonah Hill, remake, Rob Riggle
