Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street

For those of you who were born after 1987, you may not realize that 21 Jump Street was originally a television series. In fact, it was the show that shot Johnny Depp to stardom! But this year two new stars are taking over – Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum!

These two may be seen as an unlikely pair, both have proven they are bankable stars at the box office. Channing Tatum, who first came on the scene in Step Up, recently starred as the romantic lead in The Vow, which brought in $118 million. On the other hand, Jonah Hill has had a phenomenal year and is just coming off his first Oscar nomination for best supporting actor in Moneyball. These two just keep getting better and better!

“Who knows, maybe we’re at the height of our careers. But we’re randomly in this movie together and in this very unique position where good things are happening for us. Now is the time to show what we can do and not be pegged as certain types of actors,” says Hill.

The film is about two cops who aren’t that good at their jobs and are assigned to go undercover to investigate a high school drug ring. Obviously seeing two cops try to fit into high school years later will be a comedic scene, but somehow these two make it even funnier with the humor they incorporate into the film.

“The first thing I told him was that he had to make me funny. I had always wanted to do a comedy, but that’s not something I’m going to pretend I know. But Jonah said he’d have my back. That’s all I needed to hear,” Tatum explained.

21 Jump Street hits theaters March 16.
