Don a Red Dress for the Look-at-Me Factor

It is unclear why red has always been associated with love.  It might have been the use of red roses to convey feelings to a lover.  It might also be that red, the color of fire and blood, signifies passion. Regardless, everyone knows that Valentine’s Day is the time for gift-giving, the overflow of red chocolate boxes and romantic hearts-filled cards, and the time to wear red.  It’s time to add a touch of passion and sexiness to your outfit. Here are 10 items that help you incorporate, but not overuse, red on your garments and accessories this holiday:

1. Replace your LBD with a LRD – “Little Red Dress.”  Check out: Alice + Olivia tie-dye tank dressBCBG one-shoulder tube dress

2. Accessorize your (not red) dress with a bright red skinny belt instead.  Check out: Saks Fifth Avenue leather bow belt / Yoox leather belt

3. Grab a red clutch, either girly and or chic and sleek.  Check out:  Sondra Roberts fabric flower clutch / Ferragamo Miss Vara clutch

Add a Red Accessory for A Little Extra Flair

4. Wear your heart on your neck to add that extra pizazz. Check out: Rachel Roy puff heart pendantMarc by Marc Jacobs neck watch

6. Invite a touch of the hand with a beckoning ring.  Check out: House of Harlow cocktail ring / Elle dyed pearl ring

7. Let the lipstick speak for itself. Check out: Revlon Really Red matte lipstick

8. Add sheen to your nails. Check out: OPI So hot it berns nail polish

9. Top your mane with a cutesy, red bow. Check out: American Apparel bow hair clip / ldo velvet bow headband

And, I do like to  save the best for last.  My favorite way to add some spicy red to your wardrobe is on your toes:
